Intentional. That is my word for 2018. The definition is very simple: done on purpose. It sounds pretty straight forward because it is but for me, it is deeper than that. I have never made a "New Year's Resolution" but this year I would like to set goals that benefit me beyond 2018. My goal is to be intentional, read more books, spend less time scrolling through social media, and minimize distractions. Another goal that I have is to complete my book. This year I want to focus my goals around God and not worldly/fleshly things.
When I say that I want to be intentional I mean this:
- Hold myself accountable
- Hand every aspect of my life to God
- Spend quality time with God
- Putting my phone down and picking up a book instead!
- Growing as a woman of God as well as continuously growing as one with my husband
Basically, I want to do all of these things on purpose! I want to plan to do these things, practice doing these things, and achieve these things. When I think of the word intentional, I also think of the word mindful. I want to be mindful of the seeds that are being planted in my heart and mind so that I can be intentional with my goals. I want all of us to tap into the things that God has entrusted us with. For me, I believe that it is writing my story to share with other women. If you don't know what that is for you, pray about it and I believe that God will make it very clear to you.
While writing this book has been very vulnerable for me, I am so excited to share it! Everything that I have ever struggled with is laid out on the table but it is absolutely amazing to see the transformation. God has delivered me from some very dark places. Has shown me what He is capable of and what I am capable of with His strength. Sometimes it is hard to put it into words and some chapters are very difficult to write but the Holy Spirit makes it happen every. single. time. I don't think you'll fully understand what I'm talking about until you're able to read the book for yourself.
In early 2015 I made a checklist and stuck it in my Bible. In my book I share that checklist and go through each thing on the list. Now, in 2018, almost everything on that list has come to pass. If you know me personally, you know that 2015 was a very difficult year for me. It brings me to tears thinking about what God helped me overcome and even though some of those things took 2-3 years to happen, they happened. Every new year I can't help but to reflect on the previous years, things that I've been through, and mistakes that I've made. I can finally say that I no longer look back at those years with regret but with gratitude because it is now part of my testimony... part of my book. Those years led me to where I am at right now. Happily married, writing a book, a part of an awesome church, teaching kids about Jesus, and constantly learning. Whatever this year looks like for you, just know that it is part of God's plan!
Thank you for joining me on this journey and I'm so excited to share more with you!
